Inaasahan ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na mailabas ngayong linggo o sa susunod ang Interpol red notice laban sa dating mambabatas na si Zaldy Co, ayon kay Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla nitong Martes.
“Si Zaldy Co, nag-apply na kami ng red notice. I think we should get the red notice anytime this week or next week,” ani Remulla sa isang interview.
Ayon kay Remulla, nasa Portugal si Co. Nauna nang inilabas ang isang Interpol blue notice laban sa kanya noong Nobyembre 2025.
Ayon sa Interpol, ang blue notice ay ginagamit upang mangalap ng karagdagang impormasyon tungkol sa pagkakakilanlan, lokasyon, o aktibidad ng isang tao kaugnay ng isang criminal investigation.
Samantala, ang red notice ay kahilingan sa mga law enforcement agency sa buong mundo na hanapin at pansamantalang arestuhin ang isang indibidwal habang hinihintay ang extradition, surrender, o iba pang katulad na legal na proseso.
Nauna nang naglabas ng arrest warrants laban kay Co at sa 17 iba pa, kabilang ang mga opisyal ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at mga direktor ng Sunwest Corp., kaugnay ng umano’y maanomalyang mga proyekto sa flood control. Naghain din ang Office of the Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan ng mga kasong corruption at malversation of public funds laban kay Co at sa iba pa kaugnay ng sinasabing maanomalyang P289 milyong flood control project sa Oriental Mindoro.
Ayon sa mga government prosecutor, substandard umano ang sinasabing hindi umiiral na flood control project na itinayo ng Sunwest Corporation, kumpanyang pag-aari ng mga agarang kapamilya ni Co.
Sa pahayag ng Ombudsman, sinabi nito na “The Office of the Ombudsman welcomes the issuance of warrants of arrest against Zaldy Co and the 17 other accused in the corruption cases filed before the Sandiganbayan last Tuesday.”
“To the law enforcement agencies whose responsibility it is to effect the arrests—execute the warrants without delay. Ensure their immediate arrest and bring them before the bar of justice,” dagdag pa.
