Authorities in the United States apprehended Mark Lorenzo Villanueva, a 28-year-old Filipino national and U.S. green card holder.
He was arrested in Long Beach, California on August 1, 2025. He is accused of sending money to individuals allegedly connected to the terrorist group ISIS.
Villanueva reportedly made 12 payments totaling $1,615 via Western Union between October 2023 and March 2024.
Investigators say he expressed a desire to join ISIS. He is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge in Los Angeles
