TINITINGNAN ng Israel ang Pilipinas bilang ‘key partner’ sa Pax Silica Initiative, partikular na sa pamamagitan ng probisyon ng mahahalagang mineral resources para punan ang pagkadalubhasa ng Israel sa artificial intelligence (AI), chip design at cybersecurity.
Sa panayam ng Bagong Pilipinas sa PTV, araw ng Miyerkules, sinabi ni Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Dana Kursh na ang partnership sa pagitan ng Israel at Pilipinas ay maaaring maging “tremendous,” sinasabing ang nickel at iba pang mahahalagang mineral ng Pilipinas ang magpupunan sa puwang na hindi matugunan mismo ng Israel.
“You have plenty of nickel and other different important minerals. What Israel has to offer is the tech side. We are advanced when it comes to AI and cybersecurity and other technological solutions,” ang sinabi ni Kursh.
Sa ngayon, sinabi ni Kursh na tinatrabaho na ng dalawang bansa ang memorandum of understanding (MOU) ukol sa critical minerals cooperation kasunod ng pagbisita ni Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Roque at Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo sa Israel nitong unang bahagi lamang ng buwan.
“I cannot speak into the specifics of the MOU, I can speak just on the fact that it is a partnership when it comes to technological solutions in AI, in cybersecurity and in other avenues as well,” ang tinuran pa ni Kursh.
Idinagdag pa rito na nakikipagtulungan na ang Israel sa Department of Information and Communications Technology para isapinal ang hiwalay na cybersecurity MOU.
“The partnership is resting on three pillars — leadership, academia and the private sector — all of which are structures both nations already have in place,” anito.
“If we will connect both ecosystems we will find innovative solutions when it comes to how do we have a better usage of all that AI can offer us and other innovative ideas,” ang sinabi ni Kursh.
Maliban sa sourcing ng minerals mula sa Pilipinas, binigyang-diin ni Kursh na ang kanyang kamakailang pagbisita sa Gitnang Luzon ay nagpapakita na ang Luzon Economic Corridor — sumasaklaw mula Clark, Pampanga, tuloy-tuloy hanggang Subic at pababa tungo sa Batangas — ay nagpapakita ng “significant potential” para sa isang high-tech industry.
Tinukoy din nito ang agriculture, water solutions, education, health at cybersecurity bilang umiiral na areas of successful bilateral cooperation.
Partikular na tinukoy ni Kursh ang agricultural project sa Bacolod kabilang ang Israeli company na LR Group at local conglomerate ni Manny V. Pangilinan, na nag-o-operate ng hydroponic greenhouse farm gamit ang AI at water conservation technologies.
Nakatakda namang magtayo ang Pilipinas ng isang 4,000-acre industrial hub sa Luzon Economic Corridor na magsisilbing staging point para sa pagmamanupaktura para sa mga miyembro ng inisyatiba.
